A historical drama with Bollywood-inspired musical moments. Afghan capital Kabul in the 1990s. The country is ruled by Soviet-era values. Men and women can both go to the movies in their slacks, children can attend school, and anyone can attend a university or a movie theater in their skirts. Compared to the rest of the world, living in Afghanistan is very similar. Qodrat, a 14-year-old Kabul street vendor, offers movie tickets for the illegal market. After selling a ticket to a secret police officer by accident, he ends himself at the Soviet orphanage, where he fakes his identity at the registration in order to gain greater authority. Qodrat's daily existence consists of making new friends, falling in love, and engaging in mischievous activities, much like other children around the world. However, behind the gates of the orphanage, the Mujahideens begin their civil war, and the society they once knew is rapidly changing.
