A young high-school music teacher and her father, Jim, try to piece together their entwined history and secrets. When a prank goes horribly wrong, Jim's daughter is wrongly accused of misusing her power over 17-year-old Clive. Veronica, on the other hand, is adamant that she is deserving of punishment, although for misdeeds committed far earlier in her life. Jim's profession as a food inspector begins to suffer as a result of his confusion and frustration at Veronica's intransigence. He has a lot of sway over small, family-run restaurants, and he isn't afraid to use it.
